Cave burial has been prevalent in southern China for thousands of years. The population history and the genetic contribution of cave burial groups to the formation of present-day southern minorities are largely unknown due to the lack of ancient genomic data. Here, we present the genomic data from 4 ancient individuals from cave burial sites from the Late Yuan to Ming dynasties in Guangxi. We observed a close genetic affinity between the four individuals and published contemporaneous cave burial samples. However, our samples received gene flows from northern East Asians compared to the cave burial groups around 1600-1400 years ago. We identified a strong genetic link between these ancient cave burial groups and present-day Hmong-Mien-speaking populations, particularly the geographically adjacent Baiku Yao population, indicating population stability in the mountainous region of southern China over the past few centuries. 数千年来,洞穴墓葬在中国南方盛行。由于缺乏古代基因组数据,洞穴墓葬群体的人口历史和遗传贡献对当今南方少数民族的形成影响很大程度上尚不清楚。本文,我们展示了广西元末明代洞穴墓葬遗址的 4 个古代个体的基因组数据。我们观察到这四个个体与已发表的同期洞穴墓葬样本之间存在密切的遗传亲缘关系。然而,与 1600-1400 年前的洞穴墓葬群体相比,我们的样本接受了来自东北亚人的基因流。我们发现这些古老的洞穴墓葬群体与当今的苗瑶语种人群之间存在很强的遗传联系,尤其是地理上相邻的白裤瑶人群,这表明过去几个世纪以来中国南方山区的人口一直保持稳定。
